The Food Services Department is starting a Student Advisory Board in February to give students the opportunity to voice their thoughts about school meals. Regional news media continues to report on communities around the Commonwealth which are faced with financial squeezes that negatively impact local education. One way some communities manage the squeeze is by instituting or driving up extracurricular activity fees. In the Somerville Public Schools the commitment to providing equal access to important enrichment activities remains strong.

Crossing guards are posted at the following corners every school day to make help students safely walk or bike to school. Each corner is staffed from approximately 7:30-8:30 AM and again from 2:25-3:00 PM.

The Somerville Public Schools is looking for businesses, non-profit partners, volunteers and community experts to work with us planning and running afterschool activity clubs for students in Grades K-8 across the City. This is why we are inviting you to an Afterschool Activity Club Bidders’ Conference hosted by the Somerville Public Schools on Thursday, September 4th from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the SPS Central Office (181 Washington Street – in the same building as the Boys and Girls Club).
