My friend and Somerville hacktivist, Adam Friedman, recently alerted me to two new local transparency groups which both seem to have a strong Somerville focus and include another Somerville hacktivist Michael @Morisy (from the FOIA-made-easy site MuckRock).

Personally, I’d like to see more transparency around city finances in terms of the city budget and how our tax dollars are actually spent during the year. Furthermore, it would be interesting to see what types of state and federal money Somerville gets and expends.
There also seems to be a lack of transparency around certain City committees, as David Dahlbacka recently discovered with the Somerville Redevelopment Authority. Another area of opaqueness is responsiveness from City departments through the ACE program as I’ve been noticing.
Where would you like to see more sunlight in Somerville?
