Grounding McGrath Working Group Meeting
Wed. Mar. 7 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Location TBD
The working group that is investigating options for repairing McCarthy Overpass is meeting to discuss the latest results.
The McGrath overpass cuts Somerville in pieces. A boulevard would work better with the new Green Line T-Stop at Union Square.

Right now the state has gone out to bid on a contract to “repair” the bridge without any improvements at all. The cost is something like $13 million and will last a minimum of 15 years. If MDoT is at the meeting please ask them to not do these repairs, but to fix it right: bring it down to the ground.
At a minimum the state should wait for the Grounding Study to be completed in the next few months so any repairs can include improvements for transit, walking and bicycling
You can also comment on MDoT’s blog which has a post on McGrath:
