Although there appears to be a lot of neighborly opposition to SCC’s 181 Washington Street proposed development at this time, the Boston Society of Architects is calling it an “active project.” Below, information about the BSA’s Design Charrette for SCC this Wednesday at BuildBoston.
HOUSING CHARRETTE
Wednesday November 16
8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Located in the Lounge at Build Boston
Join the BSA’s Housing Committee and Enterprise Community Partners in a hands-on, collaborative visioning exercise to advance design outcomes for an active affordable housing project.
Four teams led by Boston area housing professionals will develop options for the Somerville Community Corporation’s (SCC) affordable housing project planned for Union Square in Somerville. Participants will learn about The Enterprise Community Partners’ work to build partnerships between architects, planners and community-based organizations, and will then break into teams using SketchUp 8 to pursue four creative solutions to SCC’s project challenges.
