Joe Medeiros, man about town, disability rights activist, and wry humorist, died June 14.  He would have turned 91 on June 21, 2011.

The Somerville Home held a lovely Memorial Service for him tonight, and his family generously provided the reception.

A member of the Somerville Disabilities Commission for 16 years, Joe reached out to many elected officials throughout his long years of civil rights advocacy.  In particular, he spoke with great love and respect about the consistent and good works of Helen Corrigan, Senator Pat Jehlen and Alds. Bill White, Dennis Sullivan and Walter Pero.  Joe and Ald. Pero also hosted a show on the Somerville Cable Access TV (SCAT TV) for many years.
