Somerville Voices is sponsoring a high school story contest with a prize of $100.
Deadline:
May 1, 2011
The topic:
“This happened in Somerville.” (True stories, not fiction.)
The format:
Anything that can be published on our blog: text, photos, text with photos, slide shows, video, poetry. You may post anonymously or under a pseudonym, but if you win your true name will be published.
Who can enter:
Students from Somerville, attending any school, grades 9 through 12.
How to enter:
Just post your story, poem, video, or whatever you are entering. Include the words “Somerville Story Contest” in your headline.
Restrictions:
Entries must follow the Somerville Voices moderation rules, which ban obscenity and unsubstantiated personal attacks. For more on our moderation policy, go to somervillevoices.org/moderation-policy. You must supply an email address to set up an account and post your story on somervillevoices.org.
How the winner will be chosen:
The contest winner will be chosen by the editors’ evaluation of the quality of the post AND the comments offered by readers. “Thumbs up” votes will also be taken into account after those evaluations. (Thumbs down will not be counted.)
