How are our tax dollars, fines, and fees being spent by City Hall? These charts offer a visual illustration of the FY11 municipal budget (pdf) found on the City’s website. [Link to my Google Spreadsheet]

City of Somerville : FY11 Total Expenditures, Approx $207M

Top 3 Categories : Schools 23.5% $48.7M, Pension&Fringe 21.1% $43.8M, Public Safety 15.1% $31.3M

City Of Somerville Fiscal Year 2011 Department General Government Appropriations Total $10,464,312

Note that Information Technology gets the largest slice with 14.1% of the budget (approx $1.47 million).

    Look at how much is spent on Info Services! And yet did they make such a lovely pie chart? I don’t think so!

    The more disgusting trend is the pensions. Yikes. 43.8 million! Declare bankruptcy and then get oout from under the rock. Only way now.
