On Saturday, December 4th, Somerville comes alive with a bounty of holiday shopping.  An array craft markets and retail events all taking place this day makes Somerville the place to find something for everyone on your gift list this season.  Move away from the crush of the malls and go local, supporting neighborhood entrepreneurs as you uncover unique items for sale all around the City.

The promotion is a collaboration between Union Square Main Streets, Somerville Local First, and DARBI (Davis Area Resident/Business Initiative).  By coming together, these collaborating networks will offer a wide variety of opportunities for residents and visitors to support Somerville’s vibrant local business and artist communities.

Shop-A-Palooza is part of Somerville Local First’s Second Annual SHIFT YOUR SHOPPING campaign, now active across New England, which encourages residents to make the 10% Shift by supporting locally owned and independent businesses and community based artisans with their holiday shopping dollars.  New Englander’s will spend an average of $700 during the holidays this year.  By choosing local, our communities have an opportunity to support the unique character of their communities and help create and sustain local jobs.
