Please come to a Sleeping Bag Rally (bring your sleeping bag & pillows to show that everyone needs a place to sleep)
Thurs, Oct 14, 6-7:30 PM
Outside City Hall
On Sept. 15, the Somerville Zoning Board of Appeals rejected the proposal to build 6 affordable rental apartments for formerly homeless families. The Somerville Community Corporation and the Somerville Homeless Coalition had proposed to make this large building into affordable housing and to provide supportive services to formerly homeless families.
Tell our local leaders not to shut out homeless families!
Supporters of affordable housing, advocates for the homeless, and concerned neighbors working together are demonstrating our disappointment with this decision and the resulting consequences. We will call upon city leaders to act to preserve Somerville’s diversity and to ensure that Somerville remains affordable not just to the well-to-do, but to the low income and working families who have historically called our city home.
