OPENAIR Circus presents its 25th season Big Top performance

July 30 & 31, and August 1, 2010

Families from Greater Somerville will be amazing and amusing audiences under the big tent at Nunziato Field, at the corner of Vinal Ave. and Summer Street near Union Square.

Founded in 1986 by Somerville parents, OPENAIR Circus has been providing a place where young children and teens from all backgrounds can develop mad skills, self confidence, and leadership in a supportive community. OPENAIR keeps registration costs to a bare minimum to maximize accessibility to everyone.

“The OPENAIR Circus offers local families a unique and fun experience,” said Circus Chairman Peter Jehlen.  “Every summer, our
volunteer-run program provides circus arts training to over 150 area children.  Few things are more rewarding than seeing these students perform with such self-confidence and pride.”

Performances cap off 6 weeks of summer classes offered by the Circus in three Somerville parks.

The theme for this year’s show is “OPENAIR Circus goes to the Beach”.

Performances are scheduled at:

7PM on Friday, July 30th.
2PM and 7PM on Saturday, July 31st.
2PM on Sunday, August 1st.
All performances are at Nunziato Field, on the intersection of Summer St. and Vinal Ave. near Union Square in Somerville.  Suggested donation is $3.00!!! A better deal on family fun can not be found.

The show will run about two hours with intermission. Refreshments and circus toys will be available.

This year’s circus schedule included an intensive training for teens in circus skills, teaching, and performance.  This training was funded by the Somerville Arts Council, the Somerville Health Foundation, and the Edith Johnston Memorial Trust of the Circus Fans of America.

The Circus is also available for workshops and birthday parties.
