I would like to let people in Somerville and anywhere else know about a rally against the mayor and his wrong budget choices.
WHEN: June 22, 2010 6 pm
WHERE: City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143
The school custodians did everything but give a kidney to him and that was not good enough. The custodians are part of our community and will be missed very much. The mayor will tell you it’s about money bottom line, this is not the truth. The mayor controls the figures, so he can make them say what he wants. Everyone come to this rally and let this phony have it, he has been fooling the public far to long. The rally starts at City Hall on 06/22/2010 at 6 pm. He is protecting his cronies and hacks at the cost of your children.

Thanks so much, Truthsayer.
Information about the rally is also posted on SV at: http://www.somervillevoices.org/2010/06/20/events/rally-to-support-custodians-and-municipal-employees/
It begins: “Support our Good, Hardworking People
Despite the offer by the School Custodians’ Union to accept nearly $800,000 in concessions, the Mayor’s office has relentlessly and heartlessly charged forward in giving notice that the custodians are in the line of fire of unprecedented punishing layoffs; every single one of these good, hard-working people will receive a pink slip, a devastating maneuver designed to shower unthinkable hardships upon them. These layoffs will take place on July 1, 2010, and the custodians will be replaced by lower paid employees from a private company…”
I hope tomorrow’s rally will be huge!

Can supporters for the library join in?

Are library jobs in danger of being outsourced too? I learned of a position being eliminated at the West Somerville Library which seemed like a big shame. Tomorrow night seems like a good time to show up in numbers and find out what folks are thinking about the city budget.

They are not outsourcing. They are getting rid of either 3 or 4 more librarians. Last year, it was the same amount. The mayor wants to fire full time and hire part time. The mayor is always picking on the library. Pretty soon, no one will be working there.
