Never let it be said that the far-right in the USA can’t make fools of themselves when given half a chance. The formation of an official political Tea Party by right-wing nut-job extremists may be the latest in self-parody. Most of these guys seem totally tone-deaf to how they’re coming across in the media. Mad as hatters? You betcha’! Maybe it’s all the lead shot they’ve got stored up in their survival shelters. Whatever the source of their off-the-cliff craziness, it’s not all entertainment for those of us trying to sort out the garbage. The fact is, outfits like Faux “News” who have a national platform to misinform the public (and who are the driving force behind the teabaggers) also pollute the political arena with outright lies and distortions. This creates confusion and misunderstanding, an atmosphere ripe for recruitment of those who are less inclined to think for themselves or do their own research into the issues of the day. Now they are about to descend on Boston and try to claim the real Boston Tea Party as their own. We don’t think so!
But, worse than manipulation and disinformation campaigns, this so-called Tea Party also has the potential for violence. Far-right extremists from last summers health care town hall meetings chose disruption over dialogue, screaming and shouting down those they disagree with and behaving like thugs. That was just the beginning. Now it’s bricks through windows, white powder in the mail, death threats. It’s domestic terrorism. Think Brownshirts in pre-war Germany and you’ve about come upon the profile. Now there’s a sale on brown shirts on the Boston Common……today only!
So, crazy? Sure enough, but crazy with an edge, like foaming-at-the-mouth crazy, like the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party gone bad, very bad. Beware and be very aware.

This hateful drivel should be posted on the DailyKOOKS or Huffingtonpost. You lefties amaze me. You slander Palin, Fox news, America, the troops, God and then you cry/whine and stamp your feet when you get called out on it.
The Tea Party was great today! There were at least 25,000 folks – from all walks of life/colors/ethnicities – on the commons today demanding repeal and impeachment! I just got back – some of us have to work to pay for all you entitlement brats.
And, the Usurper-in-Chief — the guy was *possibly* not even born here, never released his transcripts from college (he’s a flunky!!!) and he is a marxist – we have running the country into the ground and his co-horts (Pelosi and Reid) are soon to be tossed out of office. Deal with it.
The adults will be back in charge after November. Can you say “worst president of all time”? We warned you all this empty suit was the second coming of Jimm-AHHH Carter. You didn’t listen and now we have 10% unemployment and the nation pointed to 3rd world status.
Good job, lefties, good job. Now stand clear and let the adults drive the bus.
Palin 2012 and 2016.

I think your estimate of people at the rally is WAY off. The local news is reporting maybe 5,000.

I also read that this was said by the MC of the rally: “You hear that, my lefty friends? See that? Conservative women: they’re smarter than you and they’re hotter than you!”
Is this true? And if so, what the hell does a Conservative being “hotter than” anyone have to do with anything? Palin certainly is not smarter than 99.9% of the people I know either.
I believe there were more people gawking at the Tea Party people than those who actually attended.

Mrs, Janine, the MSM always downplays our numbers. It looked like 25,000 to me, but I didn’t have time to count all the folks. Lots of folks. Lots.
Yes. Conservative women are hotter and smarter. Just ask your friends Chris Mathews and Bill Maher on MSLSD who tonight complimented Sarah and Michele Bachmann (while trying to insult them). I won’t use the term here as I am a gentleman – unlike most lefties.
You seem educated. Why not get on the winning team and at least read about what we’re trying to accomplish with the Tea Parties?

Francisco, from what I saw on the local news, there is no way 25,000 people would fit in the area that the gathering was. Why would Channels 4, 5 and 7 downplay numbers?
I’ll pass on the invite to join your group. In the words of Groucho Marx “I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.” I like to think for myself and make my own educated decisions. I also know I am smarter than and way better looking than Sarah.
By the way, how did a Democrat win Scott brown’s state senate seat yesterday? Where were the Independents, GOP and Tea Party people for that election? Ha!

I don’t find the Tea Party phenomenon as frightening as some do. It’s a natural process. The fiscal solipsism of wanting to wage wars and use Medicare but not pay taxes is demographically linked to limited education and fear of loss of white privilege, and has been festering under the surface for a long time. The election of a half-black president merely brought it to a head, and now it’s exposing itself, voluntarily, to the light of day. This is an awkward and embarrassing time, but a step forward.
Yes, they break the law. They make threats, advocate assassination, and conspire to commit murder. They then get caught and go to court, shining an ever brighter spotlight on the phenomenon. The Tea Party is an abscess bursting, a fever breaking, a healing process. I say, let it run its course.

Columbine, wow….are you sure about those generalities you just sputtererd regarding the tea party folks? They’re all racist, uneducated and they like to wage wars? Wow. Just wow. Talk about prejudiced opinions. You may want to pop your head out of the sand (actually somewhere else that is is buried in) and stop listening to Olbermann and Madcow. Maybe read a book?

Tea Party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, and are no more or less afraid of falling into a lower socioeconomic class, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
Libs, you really need to get out more and meet people. Maybe you can find a job and contribute a little too. Nahhh….. that’s too much to ask of you.

I prefer to go right to the source, Xumi, and let folks like you speak for yourselves.

Xumi – you and I have agreed on some thing but here we clearly disagree, hopefully peacefully. Why is it that the people interviewed yesterday for the local papers (the Globe AND Herald) at the rally said they were unemployed? And why did everyone, including Palin, have to mention something about race in their speeches? Almost everyone there yesterday was white, middle aged and male. this is not a demographic I fit in (I am white, female and in my 30s).
And, for a fact, I had friends there trying to gather signatures for elected office (seemed like shooting fish in a barrel). They said there were a few “tea partiers” saying racist things – hence my own reluctancy to go as I did not want to deal with that crap). Like all organized groups, there are the lunatic fringe.
