You’re invited to Sarah Palin’s tea party in Boston 4/14

by Daniel Shays

Soooo, guess who is coming to YOUR town to claim the Boston Tea Party as the Tea Party Terrorists own? Yes, it’s Caribou Barbie, former VP candidate and faux patriot, busy yelling “Fire!” in the crowded theater of public discourse (complete with cross-hairs, I might add). It seems April 15, according to many Tea Party Terrorist websites, is Tea Party Tax Day (or is it Ten Kinds of Crazy Day?) and Palin’s appearance in Boston is on the last leg of some sort of terrorists’ bus tour. Well, she doesn’t scare this citizen and I doubt she scares you, dear reader, but her sojourn into the birthplace of this here nation sure calls for a strong non-violent response.

We’ve all read and heard the various reports in the past few days about incidents of violence aimed at health reform advocates, from bricks through windows, to death threats, to mysterious white powder in the mail. I don’t recall progressives acting in this manner after losing vote after vote during the Bush era. What is wrong with these people? Nothing perhaps that a few months or years in jail might cure. In any case, responding in a like manner would only encourage the Tea Party Terrorists. Better we should respond as some of our forebearers did during the real Boston Tea Party: with theater!

Watch for more on this here at Open Media and elsewhere, and please be sure to talk it up with your family and friends in Massachusetts. It’s important that, dare I say, outsiders don’t get away with coming into the Commonwealth and misappropriating our history and culture. Remember to mark your calendars for April 14, 11AM (place TBA): Tea Party Terrorists Day in Boston!

Feed them attention? Make a nice big crowd that’ll look nice on TV? Get pulled into a melee by some agent-provocateur? I think I’ll wash my hair or something instead.

Honestly, if you have a concrete plan – something organized and visible, with cohesive costuming and a plan – that could be constructive. But just showing up en masse is doing exactly what they want us to. What precisely is the plan?

  4. I’m especially wary of tribalscribal’s insinuation that self-identifying Tea Party activists are the same ones making and acting on violent threats to supporters of the health care law.

It’s my impression that the Tea Party activists are largely fiscal conservatives and anarchists, brain-washed by right-wing pundits on Faux News. To that extent, they are not acting in the same vein as the original Tea Partiers who were protesting taxation without representation. But, to label them as terrorists seems extreme and counter-productive. I wish this post contained some substantive arguments about something, instead of doing little more than calling Sarah Palin names.

I fail to see what the author thinks he’ll accomplish with his protest theatrics.

Faux news. Seems to me the lame stream media pretends to deliver the news. Truth be told. Too bad there are those on the left that claim to be open minded when and then try to silence decent.

You gotta love progressives they don’t know the history of nanny states but can’t wait to have the masses depending on them. Mostly becuase they are using other peoples money.

And what happened to NO NEW TAXES? Now they are pushing for a value added tax.. now who will have to pay that?

For me seeing Sarah Palin in Boston on 04/14/10 is akin to a spiritual journey. I have taken the day off from work and am planning to drive 1 hour to Boston at 5am. As I see hundreds cheering Tiger Woods(15 mistresses and counting) at the Masters, I respect and admire Sarah Palin for her tenacity, honesty and family values. She gives voice to Americans who feel government has run them over rather than helped them out. I can’t wait until 04/14!! I think Sarah Palin is a wonderful human being and a fantastic leader.

  13. Nellie Bly says:

Yes, family values. Surrounding your pregnant teenager with love and support and welcoming your unexpected grandchild into the world has got to be one of the finest examples of family values I’ve ever heard of. Not to mention the fact that Sarah Palin had just given birth to her own child, as well. The last thing she probably wanted was another child. This family epitomizes love, loyalty and commitment to each other. Are YOU kidding?

  14. tribalscribal says:

O right, family values like using cross hairs on her Facebook page to identify politicians who need to be “taken out” and taking every opportunity to create hostility rather than civility. Get real. The woman is yelling fire in the theater of public discourse. Is this the kind of behavior you’d encourage in YOUR family?

  15. Janine D. says:

You mean the family values like abstinence she tried forcing on other families but her own? She is a hypocrit and a quitter. She couldn’t finish out the term the citizens of Alaska elected her for. She truly is the most unintelligent person I have ever seen. It is actually very scary that she has so many “followers” -which makes me wonder how intelligent they are.

So like a koolaide drinker. Question the intelligence of anyone that diagrees with you. You make me laugh with your pro baby killing agenda. 16. Janine D. says:

And how do you know that her daughter was surrounded by love when she announced she was pregnant? Do you live in the house? And from what I see, it looks like Sarah is far from Alaska most of the time.

    GD Star Rating

  17. Nellie Bly says:

Did you ever do something your mother told you not to do? The fact that Sarah Palin’s daughter became an unwed mother is not an indicator of values taught in the home. It is, however, an indicator of the daughter’s confidence in her family’s unconditional love. I would imagine that sparks did fly in the household, for sure. Any parent would go balistic upon the news of a teen pregnancy. But the daughter was not abandoned, thrown out of the house, put on welfare and given a housing subsidy somewhere. I believe the family is taking care of their own, as all good families do.

    GD Star Rating
    loading...
  18. Nellie Bly says:

People who do not like Sarah Palin’s message perceive her as creating hostility (and use every opportunity to twist her words and actions as such). She is merely exercising her right to free speech. This is a good thing. My teenage daughters will be alongside me at the Tea Party next week holding their “Don’t tread on my future” signs. And neither of them are pregnant.

    GD Star Rating
    loading...
  19. Janine D. says:

Nellie, of course I did things my mother told me not to do. But I also understood the ramifications of my actions. I wanted to live my own life and not have to be a mom as a teenager. I graduated high school, went to college and law school before I decided to get married. As a women in her late 30′s and a mom to two little boys, I know I made the right decisions in my life and I can raise my children right. From what the public sees, the daughter gets plenty of child support but does not allow the father access to the baby. Is that right? Is that a family value? Maybe Bristol going on TV and NOW proclaiming she will be abstinent until she gets married is a good thing. Right…

And, by the way, those of us who are “non-believers” in Sarah need not twist her words or actions. All she has to do is open her mouth and it happens automatically. Good luck with the tea party parade of fools.

This “parade of fools” is standing up for your rights as well, Janine. As a lawyer, you are in that income bracket that will be directly affected by the waves of Obama’s socialism tide. Best of luck to you as the government tries to multiply it’s wealth, by dividing yours.

Mensamania- I don’t need to justify my choice to be a stay at home mom to you. I am fortunate to have a family, a home we own and a husband who likes that I am home with our sons. Your thoughts are completely incoherent – similar to most of your tea party friends. My field will always be in need to lawyers and can always go back – as I do from time to time – to work. But at this point, I choose to be with my sons. Maybe you should go back to work now and stop wasting time online.

Nellie, please don’t make assumptions about my income bracket. I am currently a stay at home mom. And, unlike others, I am OK paying for more to help those with less out. I grew up near section 8 housing in PA with my mom and brother and saw many people with far less that I had. And, they, the tea party, are not fighting for my rights. They are far from it.

  28. One thing we should all watch for in the run-up to Sarah Palin’s arrival (which, like that of Stavrogin in Dostoevsky’s The Possessed, is long anticipated), is the use of the following rhetorical trick: Accusing progressives of doing something that conservatives do routinely. For instance, conservatives label people routinely, but when someone like Rachel Maddow labels someone like Timothy McVeigh a terrorist, it’s just terrible, a sovereign citizen like him.

The problem progressives have is that they internalize notions of social justice. Conservatives, however, internalize the mind set of the warrior. To a warrior, mercy and fairness are signs of weakness. It follows that accusing progressives of being unfair works for conservatives because it causes progressives to pause and do soul-searching. The fact that it’s hypocritical doesn’t matter as long as it works. “All’s fair in love and war”.

    GD Star Rating
    loading...
    • Mike says:

What’s really hypocritical is when the beliefs/ policies of a “liberal” become so distasteful to the majority of Americans that they have to change their name to “progressive”. That speaks volumes. Conservatives are conservatives are conservatives. We don’t have to change our name. We are proud of what we stand for. In 2 years, what will be the new name of the “progressive” when Americans turn on that mantra? Socialist, communist and marxist are already taken, so they’ll have to come up with a new name………

Is there a reason the Tea Party’s new patron saint, Scott Brown, keeps distancing himself from the people who claimed to have elected him?

  30. Jonathan Rich says:

Conservatives are always models of consistency. Witness the recent healthcare debate, in which howls of “Socialism!” were followed without pause by howls of “Don’t touch my Medicare!” Tea-party types seem to think that it is intrinsically significant that they are angry, even if they are completely incoherent.

  33. Francisco d'Anconia says:

Progressives, in your opinions, does the government ever tax too much? Is there such a thing in your world as too much tax being levied on private citizens and too much government? You do realize that we’re now at 50% of the population paying no federal income tax. None. Zero. The big goose egg.

That means the burden falls more heavily on those of us who do produce. At some point the rest of us will stop producing too. Why shouldn’t we? We’re just getting tired of carrying you liberals. Then what?

We know you all take, take, take according to your needs, but when will you contributing according to your abilities? When is enough… enough for you folks?

“….from each according to his ability, to each according to his need …” – Obama is trying to ram this down our throats, but as a Tea Partier, I say “Thanks, but no thanks! Don’t tread on me!”

Go Sarah Palin! Go Paul Ryan!

    • Jonathan Rich says:

Francisco, you need to learn to make a distinction between those who don’t work and those who work hard and get paid very little for it. The flow of federal funds goes disproportionately to red states, so let me say that I’m tired of supporting you lazy conservatives.

Listen Tea Partiers or Baggers or whatever you want to call yourselves, I am a democrat first and foremost. My husband and I paid our taxes and had to pay several thousands more this year since we moved into a new tax bracket. We paid it and did not complain about it. I know that there are people out there scamming the system but I am not one of them. I know the money gets used for programs I did not want but it also gets used for programs I believe in. I want to believe I am helping others with funding programs and acting like a true Christian. Stop bitching about it because at some point you will be on Medicare or some other federal program and using this money too!

  36. Francisco d'Anconia says:

Miss Janine, that is wonderful that YOU are happy to pay excessive taxes, but with all due respect, please have your husband answer this question. He’s the one actually working and HE shares the common burden working people do. You know…. actually working.

If you really believe in certain programs then you shoud voluntarily donate time and money to those programs. Maybe through your church. The rest of us know how inefficient and corrupt this current administration is and choose to voice our displeasure and discontent. Obama, Pelois and Reid have not yet outlawed the 1st ammendment, so we still have those rights (along with the 2nd and a few other cherished rights).

I do donate my time and energy to my church, St. Paul’s in Harvard Square – through ESL classes, food pantry, homeless lunches, religious education classes for children, etc. I am sure rest of you “Tea Party” people do nothing except complain about Obama.

  45. This whole thread reminds me of a course I took once in public speaking, including some really good tips for dealing with hecklers. The idea was to restate what the heckler was saying, and the emotion behind it, until the heckler nodded (indicating you got his meaning). Then you composed your answer and addressed it TO THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE.

The bottom line being, never argue with a heckler. Doing so achieves his purpose, which is to distract you from getting your own message out.

Na, she’s not going to be a contender. She talks to honestly. Most moron Americans want to be lied to and then screwed. I cant seem figure it out. But with the way your guy is working out in there presently, we could probably put a moron like Pat Buchanan in there. Hope & Change!

What exactly does Sarah talk honestly about? To me, she is a quitter since she left her state high and dry half way through her first term. She left the people who voted her into office. If I were her, I would stay clear of politics and keep accepting the millions these morons are paying her to be on her poorly rated TV show and various speaking engagements. He 15 minutes is almost up.

Janine you sound a tad jealous. Is it her looks or the large bank roll she has now?

It kills me how the left keeps saying how useless this women is, but can’t seem to stop talking her down at every chance they get.

Steven, how can I be jealous of someone who is far dumber than me? Remember, I am the one who gave up working full time to be with me kids.

Thats because a large percentage on the right has to work to pay for the left to sit home. I’m sure if there was a government handout going on down there, the place would have been wall to wall lefties.

Conservatives clearly imagine that they work harder and pay more taxes than others, and it is equally clear that this is delusional. However, I have a similar reaction when I hear about the large numbers of people who watch FoxTV: where do these people get all this time to watch television? Don’t any of them have jobs?

Ever hear of Prime time tv? The majority of the country still works days. But if its up to you, I’m sure you would want the working population to work 2 jobs, to pay for other people to sit on their butts 24/7.

Who exactly are these people that you imagine sit around on their butts 24/7, at your expense? And who do you imagine the working population is?

  50. Xumi says:

This Sunday Fox news is going to air a very important documentary about Barack Obama, Sunday night at 9 P M Eastern. The report will go back to Obama’s earlier days, showing even then his close ties to radical Marxist professors, friends, spiritual advisers, etc. It will also reveal details about his ties to Rev. Wright for 20+ years, i.e., how he was participating with this man, and not for the reasons he stated.

The report has uncovered more of Obama’s radical past and we will see things that no one in the media is willing to put out there. It will be a segment to remember.

Mark your calendar and pass this on to everyone you know: Sunday night, 8 PM CT; 9 PM ET. Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR country is being
sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism. If you care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to everyone you know.

    Let the impeachment begin!

So Fox News, who couldn’t tell the truth about anything (Is Obama A Muslim? A communist? The Anti-Christ?)is doing an expose of President Obama? Jesus Christ. Should be a hoot, if you like freak shows.

Fox News – a channel not known for reporting the truth. Your boy Sean Hannity got yelled at by Murdoch for running to the Tea Party gathering in Cincinnati with first checking with the boss.
