The internet offers almost limitless opportunities to gain knowledge and make contact with others. When used appropriately, it is a powerful and positive tool. However, parents need to be aware of the risks inherent in this technology. During this FREE workshop you will learn about:
· The many different ways children and teens can be bullied and harassed, both online and offline
· The impact social networking sites
· Instant messaging, chat rooms and blogs
· Cell phone issues, including texting and sexting
· Strategies to monitor and supervise your child or teen online, to protect them from bullies and predators
· The importance of parent to child communication and expectations for appropriate use of technology
· How the Somerville Public Schools is striving to protect youth from online dangers
This presenation is free! Topics may be too sensitive for children
Students learn better when they feel safe.
This workshop is part of the Parents as Partners Workshop series offered by the Somerville Public Schools, www.somerville.k12.ma.us, Middlesex Partnerships for Youth,
