The Somerville Youth Hockey Association is holding tryouts on Saturday Feb 20th offering it’s 10 and under girls-only try out!

This is for our first time players age 10 and under (birth year 2000 or after) in order to create an all-girls team for the Stoneham “buzzer” league for the 2010-2011 season.

Try outs start at 9:45 and run until 10:30. If your child has not played with the Somerville league before, they will need to bring a birth certificate the day of registration.

A one-time registration fee of $50 will be required, cash or check made out to SYHA (which covers liabilities, insurance and ice costs).

A players must have on full equipment the day of tryouts (hockey skates, elbow and knee pads, chest protector, shin guards, helmet w/ cage, hockey gloves, hockey pants, hockey socks, hockey stick, & hockey protector cup).

Confirmation letters with team placement information will be mailed after the close of the season. A $50 “hold spot” will be required to secure the players spot on the team – the $50 deposit will be deducted from the 2010-11 tuition.

Any girls older than 10 or anyone interested in playing for the travel team league should plan to attend tryouts on their specific night beginning Feb. 22 as listed below:

Mites (birth year 2002 and younger): Monday/Wednesday @ 6 PM
Squirts (birth year 2001-2000): Monday/Wednesday @ 7 PM
Peewees (birth year 1999-1998): Tuesday/Thursday @ 6 PM
Bantam (birth year 1997-1996): Tuesday/Thursday @ 7 PM

If any girl try’s out both Saturday and during the week – a one-time fee of $50 will still apply.

If you have any questions or concerns or you can not make the try outs because of school vacation, please feel free to contact myself jteves@rcn.com or Jill Guardia our League President at  president@somervilleyouthhockey.org

Best,

John Teves
