This is a Public Meeting on the Green Line Extension Maintenance Facility Alternatives, part of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) evaluation.

It is important that all citizens of Somerville and Medford come to this meeting and provide feedback. The location currently proposed, Yard 8, is next to Brickbottom and will disrupt not only this residential area but the development of the surrounding neighborhood.

Note that this meeting is being held in Cambridge near the Lechmere T-Stop, not in Somerville.

Comments on the DEIR must be submitted in writing (oral comments made at the public hearing will not be recognized by the MEPA office). The comment period started October 16, 2009. Written comments will be accepted until January 8, 2010. Reference EEA number #13886 in your comments.

The DEIR can be accessed from the following sites:

For background and issues, see Green Line Extension to Somerville Project.

One Response to “Public Meeting on Green Line Extension Maintenance Facility Alternatives”

  1. Update: The MBTA analysis of maintenance facility alternatives is in Additional Maintenance Facility Alternatives Analysis (PDF). The MBTA is taking the position that the design work they did before asking the community for input is a plus for proceeding with Yard 8. Note that this meeting is being held in Cambridge near the Lechmere T-Stop, not in Somerville where the effects will be.
