Mayor Curtatone and the City of Somerville Health Department are pleased to offer a free family flu clinic for Somerville residents at the Immigrant Health Fair at the Edgerly School, 8 Bonair Street, on Friday December 4th from 5-7 p.m., and Saturday December 5th from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Vaccinations for H1N1 influenza will be available for the high priority groups as defined by the United States Centers for Disease Control, including:
• Pregnant women
• Care givers of infants under 6 months old
• Children and young people ages 2-24
• People with these underlying health conditions
• Asthma, diabetes, immunosuppression, cardiac and neurological conditions
Vaccinations for Seasonal influenza will also be available in the “flu mist” formulation, which is appropriate for healthy individuals between the ages of 2 and 49.
Those planning to receive a flu shot are asked to bring a valid insurance card, if available.
Additional clinics will be scheduled as vaccine becomes available. For up-to-date information and clinic schedules, please visit the City of Somerville website: www.somervillema.gov or call 311.

The H1N1 flu shot is dangerous, people really need to think twice about volunteerily accepting a shot that hasn’t been tested for safety. The stuff contains mercury (which we all know by now is toxic) and adjuvants such as squalene (a substance added to the anthrax vaccine given to US soldiers, causing tens of thousands of Iraq Desert Storm soldiers to suffer permanent neurological damage).
Your best defense is your immune system, but Americans’ immune systems are challenged because of genetically modified foods (strips nutrients) and other industrial food practices.
Eat organic, raw is best but vegetables cooked al dente are OK too. And east lots of organic raw garlic. You do this, believe me, you won’t need a toxic flu shot nor will you catch anything else.

Barry – you can’t possibly tell me you believe a government site? Your encouraging people not to believe warnings about something that could seriously impact their health all in the name of profits is disturbing. This isn’t even a pandemic, but they want you to believe it is or they don’t reap the profits. The media, even the mainstream media, has admitted the shot hasn’t been tested for safety. And they expect pregnant women and children to get it too? That’s just irresponsible and dangerous. I thought this was an informed and progressive site. I guess I was wrong. Time to sign off.

Yes, I believe the government site. What credible scientific authority supports your warnings about the vaccine? Which agency would you trust?
I’m not surprised that the private drug industry is reaping huge profits from the flu pandemic. But that doesn’t mean the vaccines aren’t beneficial to public health.

I’ve been educating myself on the drug industry and the government’s complicity and even partnership in that unholy alliance for a very long time now and I can’t fit all that information on a simple blog. If drugs weren’t big business and they were still pushing them on us, putting such fears at us about a pandemic (that really isn’t a pandemic), then I “might” believe them. But unfortunately, our government and media have a long history of scaring people into scams in order to keep certain industries flourishing. That education is too large and varied to explain in a paragraph.
I only wanted to provide people a warning to use their own common sense and reconsider having chemicals injected into their bodies they may not even need and that could cause serious problems down the road. As it is now, autism is out of control, why? So is Alzheimer’s. I don’t care what you want to believe but I can tell you these and many other maladies did not come from nature, or they would have been around much longer than only a handful of decades.
Meanwhile, since the whole swine flu scare tactic, the price of garlic has risen in China. Why? Because it is an age old remedy that wards off flus and colds, and it doesn’t kill you or cause “syndromes” and chronic diseases.
Why not consider this alternative considering it actually works? Otherwise, feel free to peddle for Big Pharma, I’m not buying it. Others shouldn’t either. And like so many other drugs that were peddled 10 or so years ago, in 10 years from now, we’ll be seeing ads on TV from lawyers asking folks to join in a class action lawsuit against these companies.
What’s the point then? The damage is already done. But what a perfect “eco” system that is, isn’t it? We keep feeding right into their profits, whether it’s Big Pharma or the lawyers that benefit when their chemicals cause damage, and we allow at least that cycle to be sustainable. But not the green kind.

Xumi, you apparently missed the part of the announcement (pdf) that said “Additional clinics will be scheduled as vaccine becomes available.” You’ll be happy to know that the shots will be available both to new immigrants and descendants of immigrants who were born here (like you and me). These shots are subsidized by all US tax-payers, regardless of place of birth.

Most illnesses, if not all, can be cured by building up our immune systems. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. Most people, especially those in the western world, or those who’ve been contaminated by the western world are weakened. Eating well, seriously well, doesn’t serve the industry so they won’t tell you about it. Please, seriously, look into it!
