It’s a bit of an awkward holiday for Somerville Homeless Coalition this year.  Hard times have gobbled up all the resources, the gravy train (state aid) crashed, people are mashed and squashed into emergency housing like never before, and SHC is cran-buried in new requests for help with food and shelter.  But you can help for mere beans! (Can’t seem to get the pearl onions into this…)  Even $5 will help (easy to donate online), but while the young strong folk are home, you can ask them to help clean out your cluttered spaces in search of these in-kind items that our neighbors need so urgently:

ONGOING NEEDS & NICETIES

These items can be dropped off at our offices at One Davis Square.

- Bathroom towels (new)
- Books
- Charlie Cards
- Cutlery (new)
- Event Tickets
- Games – e.g. adult & children board games, puzzles, arts & crafts supplies, DVDs, CDs, computer games
- Gift cards – e.g. Dunkin Donuts, Target, etc.

- Pots, pans, and bakeware (new)

Baby Items

But the most important thing to remember is, any  donation you can make will make a difference – and it’s easy as pie!

One Response to “Thanks Giving”

  1. Columbine says:

All the information is right here: http://www.somervillehomelesscoalition.org/

There’s a food drive at Assembly Square Mall Saturday December 19th, and if you friend Somerville Homeless Coalition on Facebook, you get notification of all of their events, from road races to street festivals.
