Somerville, MA—The Community Corridor Planning coalition invites Somerville residents to have a voice in shaping what will happen in Somerville as plans are underway for the Green Line. The Green Line is coming to Somerville, with stops at Washington Street, Lowell Street, Union Square, Ball Square, Gilman Square, College Ave., & Route 16. Changes are coming quickly. Community members are asked to give their views on what they want to protect and create, such as jobs, affordability, and open space. Residents will be asked to vote for principles that reflect their priorities for Somerville in months and years ahead on Wednesday, October 28th, from 5:30pm-8pm, at the Argenziano School, 290 Washington Street in Somerville,
From 5:30-6:30pm, there will be an Open House exhibiting a video on the Green Line; a photo gallery of pictures taken by residents on this topic; maps; data about the City from the City of Somerville’s Trends meetings; a time line activity; and food! Between 6:30 and 8, there will be a structured meeting with small group discussions, activities, and the vote on principles. Child care and language interpretation will be available.
A partnership of Groundwork Somerville, the Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP), the Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) and the Somerville Community Health Agenda, Community Corridor Planning (CCP) is a grassroots, non-profit coalition committed to resident participation in planning for a livable, equitable Somerville. Since the beginning of the project, the CCP team has engaged over 400 people from the community.
