This is the first I'm hearing of this, although it has been announced on the <a href="http://www.somerville.k12.ma.us/education/components/calendar/default.php?sectiondetailid=13879&my_family=&d=31&m=8&y=2009&et=day" rel="nofollow">SPS District calendar</a>, but not on the <a href="http://www.somervillema.gov/calendar/?day=2009-08-31&typeID=&calType=City&month=8&view=monthly" rel="nofollow">city's online calendar</a>. Has Somerville participated in this program before? Why is the school committee holding this public hearing? Is it considering approving participation, or perhaps pulling out of the program? I'd be interested to know what the positives and negatives would be for the City and for Somerville families with such a program versus the status quo. Thanks for announcing this, Gretchen!
