Green Line Community Meetings!

Interested in better public transportation? Open spaces? Affordability? Healthy communities?

Planning is underway for two Green Line branches in Somerville, one to Union Square and one going to the Somerville/Medford line at Route 16 along the Lowell Line tracks. The Green Line Extensions will provide at least 6 new stops in Somerville and Medford that will enable commercial development, reduce the need for cars, increase access to jobs and other amenities, improve quality of life, and increase open and green space.

The Community Corridor Planning Project will host station-based meetings throughout summer 2009 to engage the community in conversations about how the Green Line will affect their neighborhood. Our goals include:

• To engage people in conversations about neighborhood;
• To create a vision and principles document based on resident and business input;
• To allow more residents to understand the public process around land-use and to feel that they have a role that process.

We invite all residents and businesses to attend any of the following neighborhood meetings:

Gilman Square, Aug 5, 6:15pm, Pearl St Park Community Room, 238 Pearl St
