Hello my name is Clivia Camara I am a youth member of the Welcome Project. As a supporter of the Welcoming Massachusetts Campaign I’m forwarding this information hoping to see you at this such important meeting as part of your support to the Welcoming Massachusetts Compaign and the immigrant youth of Somerville.
Dear friends,
As you know, in the past year the Somerville Community Corporation, the
Welcome Project and Centro Presente have being working in support of the
Welcoming, MA campaign in Somerville.
We have being doing the educational work and political advocacy at the
local level. Some of the most important activities that we did were the
one-on-one visits with local elected officials, the community meeting to
educate the community about the campaign and the collection of more than
2000 signatures of people who live in Somerville. All this work helped us
to develop the leadership of our members.
As a positive result of the work of the three organizations the Mayor
Joseph A. Curtatone is strongly supporting the campaign. The majority of
the School Committee Members also support the campaign and for that reason
this coming Monday, June 22nd at 6:00 PM we will be introducing a
resolution to be discussed at the School Committee meeting. The meeting is
going to take place at the Somerville City Hall.
