The Food Services Department is starting a Student Advisory Board in February to give students the opportunity to voice their thoughts about school meals. Students will meet with the Food Service Director and Nutrition Outreach Coordinator on a monthly basis to advise on the school breakfast and lunch program through the rest of the school year. All interested students should contact Charlotte Stephenson, Nutrition Outreach Coordinator, at (617) 625-6600 x6095 or cstephenson(at)k12.somerville.ma.us.

Gretchen, Can younger kids contribute their ideas? My first grader has lots more “constructive criticism” about the lunch offerings than my teenager does.
thanks,
Paula

There is a separate advisory board for elementary grades students. I understand recruitment needed less of a push than the high school board did. I invite you to contact Charlotte Stephenson at cstephenson@k12.somerville.ma.us to learn more about opportunities for younger students to become advisors to the School Food program.
