A couple weeks shy of a year since I first heard it, I checked in to Dipdive.com to listen to will i. am’s “Yes We Can Song,” and must report with mild embarrassment that it still chokes me up.  Will tomorrow’s inauguration speech be more than a reworking of the stump speeches we’ve all heard so often? Does it matter, given that event is turning into a sort of national holiday?

In addition to the party that Pat Jehlen and Denise Provost will be hosting (Inauguration Watch Party (11:30 am)), Carl Sciortino is having an Inauguration Party at Sabur, also on Holland Street, from 8 p.m. until the restaurant closes. This event has a suggested contribution of $25, but admission is free if you need it to be. Carl’s website says we’ll be able to watch the speech from earlier in the day at Sabur, but actually hearing it could be more of a challenge.
