That's right! We mail kindergarten reg packets to the families of children who were born here. If your age-eligible child (5 by August 31, 2009) who now lives full-time in Somerville with you was born anywhere else - in Boston, Cambridge, Sao Paolo, Islamabad, Darfur, Seattle, Bejing, Katmandu, Mumbai, Ithaca - anywhere but Somerville - you need to call the Parent Information Center (called the PIC) to get a packet, 617-625-6600 x6960. Packets are expected to be ready to go out by the beginning of next week. We're waiting for the 16-page Guide to the Somerville Public Schools to be printed before these go out the door.

The kids are Somerville residents if they're living here, regardless of where they were born.

Are children born in a Boston hospital to Somerville parents eligible for all-day kindergarten?
Does Somerville hospital even have a maternity ward anymore?
