SMUJP (Somerville-Medford United for Justice with Peace) invites you to a post-election dialogue: thoughts on the election results and implications for  the Somerville and Medford progressive community.  We hope to define three key areas to focus on going forward, relating to peace, economic justice and local issues. This open, nonpartisan conversation will start with brief presentations and move to lots of discussion.  We hope you can join us!

Date: Nov. 11, 7-9pm

Location: Clarendon Hill Presbytarian Church

155 Powder House Boulevard

West Somerville

Coming from Davis Square: follow College Ave. in the direction of Tufts Univ., go around the Powderhouse rotary, and go down Powderhouse Blvd. The church is after Tufts, on the right hand side, on the corner of Curtis St.

SMUJP Mission Statement: [Link to Yahoo group]

SMUJP promotes peace at home and around the world by mobilizing the residents and groups of the Somerville/Medford area. We believe that peace can only be achieved through social and economic justice and that our problems can only be solved through international cooperation based on the rule of law. We do not support war, no matter the reasons or rhetoric offered by politicians or the media. We stand in defense of our constitutional civil liberties and reject the rush to repressive measures after September 11. We also oppose the diversion of resources toward the military from basic needs such as health, education, and affirmative social programs.
