SOMERVILLE: As cold autumn weather approaches, Davis Square’s Amethyst Center announced today that it is hosting a “Get Healthy for the Holidays” open house offering refreshments and holistic health treatments. The short treatments—available in exchange for a suggested $10 donation to the Somerville Homeless Coalition—include: acupuncture; shiatsu; massage; craniosacral therapy; naturopathy consultations; reiki and other energy balancing sessions.  Participants are also encouraged to bring gently-used or new blankets to donate to the Coalition.

“As a community, it’s important both to keep ourselves healthy and to look out for the well-being of those in need,” says chiropractor Linda Squires. “The Amethyst Center is very pleased to offer residents of Somerville and surrounding communities the opportunity to try new holistic health treatments and at the same time support a very good cause.”

“The Amethyst Center has raised over $3000 for the Somerville Homeless Coalition in the past three years,” said acupuncturist Patty Adelsberger. “We’re proud to help give back to our city.”

Because the event frequently sells out, participants are encouraged to call in advance (617-591-9200) to reserve their session. The Amethyst Center is located at 259 Elm Street, 3rd Floor, in Somerville’s Davis Square.
