The Somerville Public Schools, inspired by the long range goals set by the School Committee, is hosting a series of community discussions about the possibility of expanding available learning time through the Massachusetts Expanded Learning Time initiative.

Please join the Superintendent for a community discussion on Saturday, October 25th from 10:00-11:30 AM in the Cafeteria of Somerville High School. The agenda and background materials are available for review on the District’s website.

Other strategies for fulfilling this long range goal of the School Committee include improving and expanding the quality of afterschool and out-of-school learning time opportunities for students, and working in collaboration with community-based afterschool time programs to coordinate services and jointly improve quality.

To participate in the study committee working on the extension of school day goal, please contact Gretchen Kinder, Coordinator of R&D, Public Information and Grants for the Somerville Public Schools at gkinder(at)k12.somerville.ma.us or 617-625-6600 x6013.
