I’m passing on a message from the Welcome Project at the Mystic Housing Development. They’re asking for volunteers to help rebuild the community garden over there. They’ve already put in two days of work, and the next is this Saturday, July 12, 9 to 3. After that, Wednesday, July 23, 5 to 8.

Hi Welcome Project friends,

As you may know, with the help of volunteers, The Welcome Project has been working hard this spring and summer to help gardeners at the Mystic Community Garden get their gardens set up. The garden, recently rebuilt by the Somerville Housing Authority, has 21 plots and includes Vietnamese, Chinese, Latino and Haitian gardeners who live at the Mystic Housing Development.

We’ve had two volunteer days where we’ve worked to help the gardeners to construct fences and gates for their gardens. We’re also creating garden plots for a Kids Garden and a demonstration garden for The Welcome Project.

If you’d like to help out, we have a volunteer day set up for this Saturday, July 12 from 9am to 3 pm.

If you can’t make it this weekend, we have additional volunteer days scheduled for Wednesday July 23 from 5 to 8 pm,
Wednesday August 13 from 5 to 8 pm, and Saturday August 16 from 9 am
to 3 pm.

If you are interested in volunteering, please RSVP to the
Welcome Project office by email (welcome@welcomeproject.org) or by phone at 617.623.6633.

Thank you again for your support, and we hope to see you soon in the
Garden!

-Warren
