When can I drop off hazardous household waste? When does school start? Now you can find out on Somerville Voices.
Last week, I asked for ideas for more types of information that we could put on the Somerville Voices web site to help us live better and easier in our city. (So far, we have a guide to tax breaks and links to summer activities for kids.)
“Columbine” suggested a calendar with dates like hazardous waste drop-off days, Sunsetter gigs, and many other events of daily living in our city that can be hard to find.
We’ve decided to do that by expanding our current calendar. We’ll post some dates, and we invite you to post more. The process is very similar to posting to the blog:
1. Go to “Write A Post” near the top left of your screen (after you log in).
2. Give the event a title and, if you want, more information in the body of your post.
3. Go down the page to “Event Editor” and put in a date and time (or check “all day”).
4. Hit “Publish”.
Once an event is posted, you can find it fast with the search tool at the top right. For example, I’ve just put up the first day of kindergarten (which people on the Somerville-4-Schools email list have been talking about). To find it, search for “kindergarten” and the new calendar post will pop up.
If you don’t see a date on our calendar that you’re looking for, please find it some other way, and post it for the next person who’s looking!
