We have been waiting for years to have a double pole — two utilitiy poles lashed together — turned back into a single pole in front of our house. The extra pole blocks visibility, obstructs strollers and impedes snow removal. Recently we stumbled upon someone who actually seems to know how the process works! Here is what we learned: How to Get a Double Pole (Utility Pole) Removed in Somerville, MA

Thanks, David, but considering that prioritzed list of who owns what, it may take decades!Where’s 311 when you need them? There’s some kind of switching box on the pole next door to my house and the door has been flapped open for months. The other day I asked some ComCast people about it and they said “oh, that’s Verizon’s box.” They were not about to climb up and shut the door. “Cooperation makes things happen!” Forget 311, where’s Sesame St. when you need them? On a related note, I heard that an FWRussell truck took down a pole on Thorndike St. and crushed some poor soul’s car. If we can get a picture, maybe there could be a new category in the pole contest - Most Damage Done by Accident No Longer Waiting to Happen.
